About The Author.
Richard was born in March 1964 at the Unicoi County Hospital in Erwin Tennessee. His parents were William B. Arrington and Etta Harrell Arrington. Richard was the youngest child in a family of five boys and two girls. Richard is the Author of “The Voyage of Billy Buckins” and a member of the Appalachian Authors Guild. He has three books that reflect his life in the Appalachian Mountains, these include, Thoughts from Appalachia, Thoughts and Stories and Smoky Mountain Stories.
Richard has over three hundred published articles, works of poetry and more then two hundred reviews and ten published books. His other published books include, The Vision of the Cat, My ghost story, Tommy Hop the Bunny, My name is Zach and My bedtime prayer for Grandma. Richard has just completed another book in the Billy Buckins series, "Billy Buckins and the Pirates Map." See below for a link to his books.
The Arrington’s were the typical family, his parents loved to travel and Richard spent most of his school years in Myrtle Beach South Carolina and Titusville Florida. This childhood spent along the ocean inspired most of his writings of life on the sea. Richard is from a family of writers, his sister Linda writes under the name Linda D. Harrington and is the Author/Illustrator of “Holly’s Backyard Adventures.” Richard's mother was also a Writer/Author and wrote “The Man Called Simon - the weeping prophit” in 1978, a book about Richard's grandfather (Simon Harrell) who was a pastor in Unicoi County Tennessee during the 1930's and 1940's.
Richard began his actual career in Law Enforcement in January of 1984 when Richard went to work as a State Law Enforcement Officer. He was forced to retire due to an injury in the line of duty and went back to his love of writing full time.
Richard lives in East Tennessee with his wife of nineteen years, Kristin Arrington and their two sons.
